The Insituto Estetico Manila Phoenix Volley Masters followed up their victory over Café Lupe with another win against the Gamboa Coffee Mix Spikers, taking a straight-sets win, 25-22, 25-17, 25-13, Wednesday afternoon in the Filoil Flying V Centre.
Coach Renz Ordonez sees their two straight wins as a good springboard coming into a tough match against the Megabuilders Volley Bolts on July 15.
“NU [National University] yun eh. So una team talaga sila, magkakakilala na kaya syempre double time kami sa blocking at depensa kasi yung atake nandyan na yan eh. Malakas sila, kailangan namin paghandaan,” he said.
Kurl Rosete scored the most once again with 13 points, nine coming from spikes and three from blocks, while Greg Dolor chipped in eight markers.
“Medyo okay yung kinakalabasan kasi yung pinapractice namin, more on blockings. So nagamit namin kanina so tapos yung communication medyo nabubuo na kaya mas okay na ganun lagi para every time may game kami di kami mahirapan,” Ordonez said.
IEM, a team composed of fresh graduates and a few collegiate players, displayed a very fun and light atmosphere playing on the court, and it’s because of Coach Renz Ordonez’s style of coaching.
“Sabi ko, ako di niyo ako kalaban dito, kakampi niyo ako. Tayo, magkakaibigan. Sabi ko sa inyo, paalala lang, di para magalit ako sa inyo. Dapat kasi proper ang pagsabi mo, maayos, maganda, at made-deliver nila. Makulit talaga. Yung team kasi namin, magkakaibigan talaga kami,” Ordonez shared.
Alfredo Pagulong and Anjo Pertierra paced the Gamboa Coffee Mix Spikers with nine points and seven points. Gamboa Coffee are still winless after three outings.
IEM, now with a 2-1 record, will face the NU-powered Megabuilders on July 15, while Gamboa Coffee will meet powerhouse Cignal on July 16.
