Savouge Aesthetics bolstered its semifinal bid after making quick work of also-ran RichMarc Sports 3B, 25-15, 25-21, 25-11, in the 2024 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference, Wednesday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Save for a tight second set, the Spin Doctors dominated the Elite Spikers in the 74-minute match to take their second victory in a row and improve their record to 3-3 at the fifth spot.
“Na-inspire kami doon sa game na nanalo kami against Air Force. Na-inspire yung mga bata ko. Ang motivation kasi sa kanila lagi is pagtungtong nila sa court, dapat it’s a championship game kahit sinong kalaban,” said Savouge head coach Sammy Acaylar.
“Hinahabol kasi namin kasi number five kami ngayon, malay natin may mangyari. So sabi ko sa kanila hangga’t maaari i-straight sets yung kalaban,” he added.
Middle blockers John Diwa and Charlee Magpayo took charge in the lopsided victory.
The former scored a game-high 12 points on nine attacks and three blocks, while the latter finished with 10 points on five attacks, three kill blocks, and two aces.
Norwel Sanama had eight markers, all of which came from attacks. Sherwin Caritativo ended up with eight as well to go along with five excellent receptions.
Rey Taneo steered Savouge’s balanced offensive outing with 17 excellent sets to go along with two points while Rikko Marmeto had 11 excellent receptions.
The Spin Doctors aim for their third consecutive win on Sunday, 4:00 PM against Maverick at the Ynares Sports Arena.
Meanwhile, Kurl Rosete paced the 0-6 RichMarc with 10 points while Kernel Ipulan, who only played in the first two sets, had eight points in the loss.
The Elite Spikers will try to break their losing streak against the D’Navigators on Wednesday, 4:00 PM at the Paco Arena.
