“For the first two sets, sobrang flawless talaga ‘yung pinakita ng team, according to our game plan. ‘Yun ‘yung pinaghandaan namin saka preparation namin talaga going into this game,” said Savouge head coach Sydney Calderon.
“Happy naman ako so far kahit medyo nag-struggle nung third and fourth. Kitang-kita na medyo fatigue na rin talaga ‘yung katawan ng mga players kasi sunod-sunod ‘yung laro namin,” Calderon added.
Joeven Dela Vega delivered his best performance of the conference, erupting for 20 points on 18 attacks and two kill blocks to lead the Spin Doctors. Mark Calado provided additional firepower with 17 points, built on 15 attacks and two blocks.
JP Bugaon chipped in 14 points, including seven of Savouge’s 14 kill blocks, while Jared Schnake posted a double-double of 13 points and 11 excellent receptions.
Vince Imperial, playing in just his second game of the conference after recovering from a shoulder injury, orchestrated Savouge’s offense with 24 excellent sets, while Rikko Marmeto anchored the team’s floor defense with 12 excellent receptions.
“Ang masasabi ko lang sa pagkapanalo namin is nag-stick talaga kami sa sistema na ginawa ni Madam and ‘yung tiwala namin sa isa’t isa ng mga ka-team ko,” said Imperial.
Savouge will next face the winless Armed Forces of the Philippines on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
