UP needs to move on, focus on do-or-die Wednesday says Estrañero

Safe to say, the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons have had a roller-coaster season. From winning four straight to losing four straight, and finally falling flat in a lopsided loss to the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses earlier today. Now UP find themselves on the brink of elimination.

Team captain Ayel Estrañero believes that everything starts with her, and also believes her team also needs to follow her lead.

“Like what I always say, it starts from me but then again, it’s the collective effort of the entire team to put the effort into training and boost each one’s confidence,” the 20-year-old said.

Confidence has been a huge talking point with the Lady Maroons, as they seem to lose and gain it instantaneously.

“Actually, the trainings are okay, but then going into the game, as much as you prepare very well for the game, but you don’t really know what the outcome will be when you’re already inside the court.

“So it’s just a bad game, as well, sobrang daming errors, and UST played well,” admitted the third-year converted setter.UAAP-79-UST-vs.-UP-Gannaban-8192 UP needs to move on, focus on do-or-die Wednesday says Estrañero News UAAP UP Volleyball - philippine sports news

The native of Bacolod asserts that her team will need to forget their latest setback and focus on Wednesday’s do-or-die match against the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws.

“Of course, today was a good opportunity sana to seal our slot in the Final Four, but the game today, tapos na yun,” added Estrañero.

“We just really have to recover and gain more confidence in our training for the next few days so that we can play better on our game on Wednesday against FEU.”
