The hosts painted Season 92 red and white.
For the second straight year, San Beda College have dominated the rest of the competition, taking the General Championship in commanding fashion.
San Beda finished the season with 683 points, a full 56 points ahead of second-placed College of Saint Benilde.
“We’re very happy. It’s a proud accomplishment for the whole San Beda community,” said outgoing NCAA Management Committee chairman Jose Mari Lacson.
Besides the basketball tournament, the Mendiola-based school won gold in seven other sports. They were champions in chess, women’s and men’s swimming, women’s table tennis, men’s taekwondo, football, and soft tennis.
“We invested in other sports not just the events we’re strong at. We hope to keep on improving year after year,” Lacson added.
This is San Beda’s fifth General Championship. And Lacson is hoping that they can continue this tradition through continuous improvements in their sports program.
“We also put emphasis [on] indoor and beach volleyball. In track and field, our expectation is just to finish seventh or eighth because we have several injured players. Hopefully, we could improve,” he added.
Arellano University finished in third with 590 points, while Lyceum University and University of Perpetual Help System DALTA placed fourth and fifth respectively with 444.5 points and 384.5 points.
Letran (367), Mapua (301.5), San Sebastian (300), EAC (299) and JRU (172.5) round up this year’s General Championship race.
