Holmqvist brothers leave FEU

Filipino-Norwegian prospects leave Morayta

6-foot-8 big man Ken Holmqvist and 6-foot-3 swingman Steve Holmqvist have left the Far Eastern University, according to incoming Tamaraws head coach Olsen Racela.

“Hindi na sila bumalik since umuwi sila from Norway,” Racela told Tiebreaker Times. “We won’t have them next season.”

Ken Holmqvist, the younger of the brothers at 22, played two years for the Tamaraws and played just 133 total minutes. The big man showed flashes of potential, however, and was bound to pick up heavy minutes in Season 80. Moreover, he was being groomed to be part of the National Team, joining the 2016 SEABA Cup team. He also won the 2015 PCCL Co-MVP.

On the other hand, Steve Holmqvist was supposed to be the Tamaraws’ skipper a season ago. However, the Fil-Norwegian sniper tore his ACL weeks before the season. He only played for one year.
