F2 Logistics cuts off Cignal’s season, books semis seat

The struggles of the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers at the start of the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix are now a thing of the past.

The All-Filipino Conference champions entered the semifinals as scary upset hunters after ending the Cignal HD Spikers’ season in four sets 25-17, 25-16, 22-25, 25-10 at the PhilSports Arena.

F2 got rid of the lowly HD Spikers through solid serving, pulling 11 aces and halting Cignal’s offense for most of the match. The Cargo Movers built insurmountable early leads in the first and second sets.

The third set, however, went array for the Cargo Movers after a questionable challenge call went Cignal’s way.

“Siguro nawalan kami ng momentum dahil doon kasi important point ‘yun. ‘Yun nga din ang sinasabi ko sa team na hindi kami manalo sa Cignal ng straight sets,” De Jesus said.

The Cargo Movers finished off the match in convincing fashion, serving their way to a 16-4 lead and never looking back.

F2 Logistics import Sydney Kemper produced 18 points, her highest output this season. Hayley Spelman added 17 while Ara Galang managed 13.

The Cargo Movers move on to the do-or-die semifinals on December 3 at Albay, Legazpi against second seeded Petron who they have failed to beat in two outings.

“Kailangan talaga namin paghandaan nang maigi ‘yung Petron. Hindi naman na nagmamatter ‘yung mga past naming laban sa kanila. Manalo lang kami on Saturday, pasok na kami sa Finals,” De Jesus added.

Laura Schaudt led the HD Spikers with 14 points while Stephanie Mercado and Cherry Vivas had seven points, apiece.
