Foton Pilipinas and Italian mentor Fabio Menta officially parted ways last Saturday afternoon.
Contrary to previous reports, Menta told Tiebreaker Times that he had resigned last Saturday and was not fired by Foton’s brass.
“There’s only one side. I voluntarily resigned Saturday at 4:48pm after a very long chat with ownership. That is all,” Menta said via text message.
Asked for the reason of the sudden falling out, Menta declined to comment for the meantime.
The veteran international coach came in as Foton’s head coach three weeks before the defending Philippine Superliga Grand Prix champions were set to participate in the 2016 AVC Asian Women’s Club Championship.
Foton Pilipinas eventually finished in seventh place and Menta delivered his plans of starting a long-term program for Foton.
The Tornadoes are reportedly looking at Moro Branislav to replace Menta. Branislav, who mentored North Korean club team 4.25 Sports Club during the AVC AWCC, is currently tasked with leading PSL Manila in the FIVB Club World Championships.
