The first PPV main event in the post-Zuffa era of the Ultimate Fighting Championship is all set as the World Welterweight Champion, Filipino-American “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler (27-10), and challenger “The Chosen One” Tyron Woodley (15-3) both made weight for the five-round championship bout.
Both men checked in at 170 pounds.
Moreover, both men did not have any hostilities upon one another during the weigh-ins held in Atlanta, Georgia Saturday morning (Philippine time). However, the two 34 year old warriors made one last jab at one another before fight night.
“I’m excited. I’m the best welterweight in the world and this has been 10 years in the making,” Woodley told Joe Rogan after the weigh-ins.
“I will look to shake the world tomorrow!”
On the other hand, the champion vowed to finish Woodley tomorrow morning.
“He’s a heck of a competitor but I am a fighter plain and simple,” the Filipino-American who is making his third title defense said.
“I’m going to go out there and get a knockout, let’s do this!”
For further supplements to the bout, here are two videos – including the build-up to the event.
