The road to reclaim the UFC World Welterweight Championship for Filipino-American fighter “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler (22-11) begins at the grand mecca of sports, Madison Square Garden.
However, it won’t be a walk in the park for the now-#3 ranked welterweight in the world as he has been booked to face the red-hot Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (31-7-1) in the promotion’s debut at Madison Square Garden, New York City on November 13, 2016 (Philippine time).
The confirmation of the fight was relayed by UFC President Dana White to CBS Cleveland radio host Anthony Lima.
The 34 year old Lawler is coming off a crushing loss to Tyron Woodley, dropping the welterweight crown in the process. Ever since that day, the Filipino-American continuously pushed for a bout according to MMA beat writer Damon Martin.

Responding to the call is #7 ranked welterweight Cerrone, who is currently on a three-fight winning streak in the welterweight division. Moreover, the 33 year old has only lost once in his last 12 bouts.
With a combined seven Fight of the Night bonuses, expect fireworks to erupt as these two warriors step on the Octagon for the first time in the undercard of UFC 205.
