Valdez on Game Three loss, playing in Asean University Games

Alyssa Valdez tried her best but she just could not lift her Bali Pure Water Defenders over the team brilliance of Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors in Game Three of the Shakey’s V-League Open Conference.

The three-time UAAP MVP was still in high spirits despite dropping another do-or-die match months after her UAAP career ended in the same fashion.

“Congrats talaga sa kanila. They really trained so hard, ang tagal na rin nila nagtetraining. They played as a team. Wala namang excuse kung bakit kami natalo. They had everything today,” the Batangas native remarked.

If anything, the Phenom was just happy she got another chance to play with former her Ateneo teammates.

“We’re really just happy to be back together – na we got a chance to play again in a team and we got to be teammates again. Nagkaroon lang kami ng pagkukulang as a team and we’re hoping lang na magkaroon kami ng (pagkakataon) ulet na makalaro sa ganitong liga. This is just the start for Bali Pure.”

Bali Pure still has a best-of-three series against the Laoag Power Smashers for third place but Valdez might not be available for the series. The Ateneo Lady Eagles are competing in the Asean University Games which could be Valdez’s last chance to represent her beloved alma mater.

“Wala pang final decision pero kung kaya naman parehong laruan ko, why not? Gagawan na lang ng paraan,” she said.

“For sure maiintindihan naman ako ng teammates ko from both teams. I’m gonna be there for whichever team and support them and do whatever I can to help them win.”
