It did not take long for Jordan Clarkson to make his decision.
The 24 year old Filipino-American has come to terms with the only team he has played for, the Los Angeles Lakers, in a bargain deal worth $50 million split into the next four years.
The 46th overall selection in the ultra deep 2014 NBA Draft was a restricted free agent going into the off-season. Due to the provision that limits what rival teams can offer second round picks, the Lakers were able to pivot this to a relatively cheap deal to retain the floor general.
In his two years with the Lakers, Clarkson posted norms of 14.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and a steal a game. Moreover, the 6’5″ guard started all 79 games he played in during the 2015-16 campaign of the Los Angeles-based squad.
With a young core that consists of Clarkson, Julius Randle, D’Angelo Russell, and 2016 second overall pick Brandon Ingram and a new coach Luke Walton, the future looks bright for the storied franchise.
