Foton Toplanders’ libero Angeli Tabaquero was stretchered out of the Filoil Flying V Centre in their game against the Petron Tri-activ Spikers Saturday afternoon.
Both teams were tied with a set apiece going into the third set. With Foton up by just a solitary point, 13-12, Cherry Nunag delivered a spike that Tabaquero tried to receive. However, she did not slide and instead fell shoulder-first to the mat. The 26-year-old libero had to be stretchered out of the arena afterwards and was taken to Cardinal Santos in San Juan City.
Tabaquero, a former spiker for the Cagayan Valley Rising Suns, had injured her shoulder a year ago against the PLDT Home Ultera Ultra Fast Spikers last April, 2015 during the 2015 Shakey’s V-League Open Conference.
Upon her return, she was converted to libero in the 2016 PSL Invitational Tournament with the Foton Toplanders.
The Foton Toplanders (1-4) are playing their last game for the tournament.
UPDATE
Tabaquero had hyperextended her shoulder. According to a PSL official, everything is said to be fine and Tabaquero is in good spirits.
