Ceres FC ready against Selangor FA in 2016 AFC Cup Group E

BACOLOD CITY – It’s just one more sleep before the home team of Ceres-La Salle FC take on the visiting Selangor FA, from Malaysia, tomorrow at the Panaad Park and Stadium for the initial match in the 2016 Asian Football Confederation Cup Group Stage (Group E).

And while the Bacolod City-based Ceres FC kicked off with a 3-0 record in the 2016 UFP Cup, club mentor Ali Go said that the visiting team is a strong side and shouldn’t be taken lightly.

“They have new coach and new system, too,” Go said. “They’re now on a possession-based play. They have added new players and dropped several as well,” he added.

The Ceres mentor also stressed that their recent victories against Nomads and Pasargad in the UFL Cup reflected their preparation ahead of the 2016 AFC Cup.

“But, the parameters really were those tune-up matches we had in Singapore and our first game against Loyola,” he said. “But, I saw that during those games our cohesion is not there. Now, our players are getting better and better on ball passing. Hopefully we can see it here against the Selangor,” he added.

“We are continuously having our trainings every day in order to make sure that we have the cohesion. This is very important. We can’t afford to make mistake against Selangor or else they will punish us,” he added.

Home crowd advantage

Go said that the crowd tomorrow night will play a significant role in the performance of the players.

“Hopefully we can fill the stadium because it will be a huge boost to our players to play 200%,” he said.
