The Lyceum of the Philippines University ended their NCAA Season 91 Men’s Volleyball stint with a quick four-set triumph over the San Sebastian College Stags, 24-26, 25-21, 25-18, 25-21 at the FilOil Flying V Centre, earlier today.
Lyceum received significant contributions from their entire starting six. Joeward Presnede led four Pirates who scored in double-digits with 19 markers off 15 attacks, two blocks, and two aces. Jhonel Badua managed 16 points while Aram Abrencillo and Renz Ganilla had 14 and 11 respectively. SSC’s Richard Tolentino essayed another virtuoso performance, being the sole Stag who had double-digits with a game-high 27 points.
The Pirates end their campaign just out of the Final Four picture at 4-5 while the Stags are at 3-5 with a matchup against the CSB Blazers left on Sunday.
In the last match of the day, the Mapua Institute of Technology Cardinals capped their season with a four-set romp of the Colegio de San Juan de Latran Knights, 25-22, 25-19, 22-25, 25-15.
Philip Bagalay ended his five-year college career, leading his Cardinals with 16 points off 13 attacks, two blocks, and an ace. Anjo Pertierra ended his magnificent season with 11 points off eight attacks and three blocks.
Letran middle blocker and team captain Harold Reyes topped the Knights with 14 markers while Paul John Alilio and Bobby Gatdula each had 10 markers.
Mapua open hitter, Sam Damian was rushed to the hospital after suffering from cramps in the third set. According to team officials, the spiker should be fine after spending the night in the hospital.
Mapua ends their season at 3-6 while Letran is at 2-6 with a match against the AU Chiefs left on Sunday.
