Christian Standhardinger, Hong Kong frustrate Joshua Munzon, Westsports

Coming off a 115-118 overtime loss to the Saigon Heat last February 4, Christian Standhardinger and the Hong Kong Eastern Basketball Club got back on track, hammering the Westsports Malaysia Dragons, 104-92, Thursday evening at the Southorn Stadium in Hong Kong.

It was a three-man show for Hong Kong as three of its imports combined to score 78 points.

Filipino-German Christian Standhardinger, who was averaging 25.0 points and 12.09 rebounds prior to this game, had 26 points, 11 rebounds, and a block in the contest.

World Import Marcus Elliott finished with his fourth triple-double of the season with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 15 assists while Tyler Lamb had 28 points, six rebounds, six assists, and four steals.

After Tyler Kwek opened up the scoring, Hong Kong went on a blistering 29-5 surge to pick up a 22-point lead, 29-7. For all of Joshua Munzon’s heroics, Westsports could only cut the lead to as low as six points in the second frame as Hong Kong led by double-digits the rest of the way.

California-born Filipino Munzon had 30 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists. However, with just six seconds remaining, Munzon was whistled for his second unsportsmanlike foul that resulted to his ejection.

Filipino export Patrick Cabahug added 10 markers.

Local Tian Yuan Kuek had a season-high 17 markers while AJ West finished with a double-double with 12 points and 16 boards.

Hong Kong maintained its lead over second-running Chong Son with a 10-2 slate. Westsports dropped to 3-9.
