In the grand finale of the 42nd season of the PBA, the league once again broke the attendance record for a PBA Finals game for the third straight time. 54,086 screaming fans were in attendance for the winner-take-all tilt between the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and the Meralco Bolts at the state-of-the-art Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
The said gate attendance in the 55,000-seater venue eclipsed the previous record of 53,642 people set in Game 6 of the series last Wednesday.
The third most attendance in league history was 52,612 set in 2014 during the league’s season-opener, which showcased Kia Sorento-Blackwater Elite and Ginebra-TNT Katropa matches.
Ginebra are looking to win their 10th overall crown in the game, while Meralco hope to give the franchise its first championship.
