Billy “Z4pnu” Alfonso finally made his debut as Execration secured its upper bracket slot after handing Nightmare Esports a 2-0 beating in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup, Tuesday afternoon.
With the victory, the MPL-Philippines grand finalist became the first team to secure its upper bracket berth after sweeping Group C.
On his first game of the year, Z4pnu immediately made his presence felt — singlehandedly negating Nightmare Esports’ feeding Diggie strategy to spearhead Execration’s huge Game One victory.
The MPL veteran, who played one of his signature heroes in Chou, blocked off Achilles’ Diggie to provide Kielvj “Kielvj” Hernandez the much-needed space to farm. He finished with nine kills and eight assists against two deaths.
Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog’s Kaja was named the MVP in the 29-16 victory with a game-high 15 assists along with two wins and a death.
Ch4knu, just like in Game Two, delivered a number of crucial plays with his Akai as Execration secured the sweep via a 16-7 victory in 14 minutes and 43 seconds.
He finished with 11 assists against three deaths as he notched his second MVP plum of the day.
Kielvj’s Lancelot and Duane “Kelra” Pillas’ Claude spearheaded the offensive strike in Game Two. The former finished with seven kills and six assists against one death while the latter ended up with six kills and seven assists without a single death.
Z4pnu dished out a game-high 12 assists along with a death playing Yve.
The playoffs will start on June 10, Thursday.
