Yusupov, Sana set for Christmas day Collision Course

Christmas will certainly be merry for martial arts enthusiasts.

Fans will be treated to ONE Championship’s final show of the year, ONE: Collision Course – a previously recorded event from the Singapore Indoor Stadium that airs this Friday, December 25.

Bannering the show is a clash between no. 2-ranked Muay Thai featherweight Jamal “Kherow” Yusupov and no. 4-ranked Samy “AK47” Sana, two men who were a stone’s throw away from reaching the top of the division.

Yusupov made the grandest of debuts in ONE Super Series when he knocked out legendary “The Boxing Computer” Yodsanklai IWE Fairtex to get a shot at Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy for the inuagural ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title.

That match did not happen though as Yusupov had to withdraw due to an injury; the COVID-19 pandemic only pushed his plans further back.

Sana, on the other hand, also owns a win over Yodsanklai, which he scored in the quarterfinals of the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix before beating “Genghis Khan” Dzhabar Askerov in the semifinals.

He then booked a date with Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan in the tournament finale. Sana lost in that showdown and now looks to recover by derailing Yusupov’s hype train in the explosive Christmas day headliner.

In the co-main event, former ONE Flyweight World Champion Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhmetov finally returns to the ONE Circle after a long layoff.

“The Kazakh” takes on former ONE Bantamweight World Title contender “Ottogi” Dae Hwan Kim in an explosive flyweight clash.
