After an impressive play-in campaign, Rex Regum Qeon wasn’t able to get a single match win as XERXIA Esports handed them a sweep, 2-0, in group B of the Valorant Champions Tour Asia-Pacific Stage 2: Challengers Playoffs on Thursday.
Game Two at Breeze was a good one, with XERXIA hailing victory via a tight 13-11 win.
It was a back-and-forth affair during the end moments of the first half with both teams exchanging round wins, but still, the Thais were up 8-4.
Second half is when the Filipinos decided to turn things around, starting with an eco round success for RRQ in round 18.
From being down, 10-4, RRQ climbed their way back into the game, cutting the lead to one, 11-12 courtesy of a Jose Eduardo “Draxii” Jamir’s (Skye) two-versus-one clutch with 6hp at the 23rd frame.
Come round 24, James “2ge” Goopio (Viper) was looking to force overtime, but the three-on-one scenario was just too much for him, as XIA completed the sweep.
Francis Danison “Rabbet” Buñag (Sova) was the mab for RRQ with 23 kills, while 2ge added 15 markers and 13 assists.
Thanachart “Surf” Rungapajaratkul’s Chamber and Nutchapon “sScary” Matarat’s Viper led the way for XERXIA with 26 and 23 kills respectively.
In Map One (Haven) XIA’s team effort was the key as they stole RRQ’s map pick, 13-4.
Rex Regum will be playing in the lower bracket against Global Esports on June 17.
