UE’s Lelic suffers gruesome ankle injury
University of the East middle blocker, Samuel Lelic, sustained an unfortunate, potentially season-ending injury in their first match of the UAAP Season 78 Men’s Volleyball tournament.
During the second set of their straight-sets loss to the the De La Salle University Green Spikers, Lelic attempted to block a Arjay Onia’s attack. Lelic went up awkwardly, leaning towards his left and landed with all his weight on his left ankle.
His ankle buckled and snapped into a bent position. The sophomore had to be carried out on a stretcher.
Lelic is currently being treated at the UE Ramon Magsaysay Medical Center. There are currently no updates on his condition as of press time.
