Converge can now focus on the task at hand.
Tom Vodanovich was officially measured at 6-foot-5 and 7/8, making the 2023 PBA Governors’ Cup cut for imports on Saturday at the league’s office.
Also present at the measurement was a representative from San Miguel.
There was worry from the FiberXers camp that Vodanovich would not make the limit as he is listed as 6-foot-7 by the International Basketball Federation.
Vodanovich would assure Converge through videos that he is a tad shorter than his listed height.
The Kiwi forward was Converge’s original choice to be its import. However, he had a commitment to NBL-Australia team New Zealand.
The Breakers’ campaign ended early this week and he immediately hopped on a plane to get to the country the following day.
“Tom only had two practices with us and we liked what we saw,” said Converge head coach Aldin Ayo.
Vodanovich, who averaged 12.33 points and 4.33 rebounds for the Breakers, will fill the shoes of Jamaal Franklin as Converge fights for dear life against San Miguel on Sunday.
Franklin delivered 37 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists in Converge’s 107-103 win over San Miguel last February 11.
