Team Secret’s magical run in Valorant Champions ends

Team Secret’s brave stand in the VALORANT Champions 2021 has ended on Thursday morning (Manila time).

The quintet of Kevin “Dispenser” Te, Jim “BORKUM” Timbreza, Jayveee “DubsteP” Paguiran, Riley “Witz” Go, and Jessie “JessieVash” Cuyco suffered a sweep at the hands of Group A top seed Acend, 0-2, in the tournament quarterfinals.

Team Secret has defied expectations in the tourney despite missing the Masters Berlin. And it capped off the tournament with a respectable 5th-6th place finish.

The former Bren Esports core kept it close in the first map but fell in the latter part 8-13 in Icebox. Team Secret then lost the following map via a 6-13 result which gave the semifinals slot to the European squad.

Team Secret turned heads in the world tilt after pushing Berlin Masters champion Gambit Esports to the edge before settling for a loss to open their campaign.

The Filipinos were then relegated to the elimination match where they dominated Japan’s Crazy Raccoon to advance to the decider match.

There, Team Secret put up an emphatic performance to seal another sweep this time against Team Vikings to advance to the quarterfinals.

Team Secret bagged $40,000 in the event.
