Superbon says multi-sport experience gives him edge over Petrosyan

Superbon is ready to take the biggest scalp of his career this Friday.

The Thai destroyer is set to dance with Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan for the inaugural ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Title in the main event of ONE: First Strike at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The Banchamek Gym standout has excelled in both the kickboxing and Muay Thai worlds, and he believes this will be his edge against the man who many fans consider the greatest kickboxer of all time.

“I think I have no weaknesses. My strength is that I am a well-rounded fighter,” Superbon said.

“Also, with my Muay Thai background, can adapt my versatile Muay Thai skills to kickboxing. And, I’ve been through more experiences than him.”

While he’s not underestimating Petrosyan, Superbon knows he has to compete against Petrosyan in close quarters instead of letting the Armenian-Italian pick his spots from the outside.

“After I studied Petrosyan’s previous fights, I found that he couldn’t take knees so well,” he said.

“For his strength, he has deadly punches and fast strikes. His danger lies in his striking techniques. He can land punches, and he kicks with incredible power and precision. He is a very strong fighter. However, I will counteract him by making a move first and attacking him whenever I see a chance.”

Don’t expect a knockout though, at least not according to Superbon, as he expects a highly tactical approach from Petrosyan.

“It’s hard to predict how the game will turn out, and it’s hard to knock him out because he is a high-level fighter. Also, we both will do everything to hide our flaws so we don’t get knocked out,” he said.

“I think each of us will likely outscore the other round by round and end up with a decision.”

Catch ONE: FIRST STRIKE on One Sports or One Sports+ at 8:30 PM, Philippine Standard Time (PHT) on Friday, October 15.
