After suffering a setback, Filipino-American Mark “Mugen” Striegl took a year-long hiatus from mixed martial arts.
Striegl (14-2) is set to make his return inside the ONE Championship cage as he is scheduled to face 28 year old Brazilian Rafael “Indio” Nunes in the co-main event of ONE Age of Domination on Friday, December 2 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Arguably the best wrestler ever produced by the Philippines, Striegl was able to grind out Casey Suire in his ONE Championship debut back in April, 2015. However, the 28 year old succumbed to Australian bantamweight contender Reece Mclaren last December to drop him in the rankings.
Striegl is looking to bounce back and return to contention with a victory.
Rafael Nunes, on the other hand, is a professional mixed martial artist with a 10-1 record and is one of the top lightweights to emerge from Brazil. He has steamrolled through the competition in his home country with a knack for winning by exciting finish. A Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt, Nunes is equally comfortable finishing his opponents by submission or strikes. Nunes though is coming off a two-year layoff from professional MMA.
ONE Age of Domination is scheduled to have Brandon Vera’s first defense of the ONE World Heavyweight Championship as its main event while the undercard is stacked with five fighters coming from the famed Team Lakay camp.
