Joshua Smith will be returning soon to the TNT Katropa, sources have told Tiebreaker Times.
Smith was TNT’s reinforcement in last year’s edition of the conference, helping the Katropa reach the Finals and finish as runners-up to the San Miguel Beermen.
The hefty 6-foot-10 slotman has already been contacted by the Katropa as the replacement for Jeremy Tyler in the ongoing 2018 Commissioner’s Cup.
The 26-year-old Tyler hasn’t been impressive for TNT in the four games he’s played, only averaging 12.25 points and 13.25 rebounds.
Tyler even had a two-point outing last May 7 in a win over Ginebra, though he was spared from scrutiny as he had come from the hospital due to gastroenteritis.
According also to the source, Tyler will play his last game for the Katropa this Friday, May 18, in their match against the still-winless Blackwater Elite.
Smith, on the other hand, will make his debut on June 1, as the Texters face the Columbian Dyip, added the source. Smith is fresh from a stint in Japan.
The Katropa are coming off a loss to the Alaska Aces last Sunday, 110-100 — the loss that ended their three-game winning streak and sent their card to 3-1.
