After suffering a huge meltdown in the previous game against Thailand, the Philippine national netball team mustered immense improvement — albeit ending in another defeat at the hands of a more experienced Brunei Darussalam side, 32-69, at the Juara Stadium, Bukit Kiara, Malaysia, Wednesday afternoon.
The National fought to-to-toe in the early goings of the match, before Brunei carved a 32-11 lead at the turn of the half. Thea Cenarosa did most of the scoring for the Philippines in the goal attack position.
In the second half, both teams made adjustments, as Cathlyn Seno replaced Kathryna Domingo as goal shooter for the Philippines, and Nur Hafizah entered in the same position for Brunei.
Hafizah sizzled in the semicircle, starring for the opponents in their huge second-half surge to keep the Filipinas at bay for good. Although down big, putting the two lanky players in Seno and Cenarosa on the attack paid dividends for Siklab, as they collected 21 goals in the last two quarters. Brunei, however, scored 37 markers to finish the match.
The Philippines will face a tough task in the next match as they battle reigning champions Singapore, Thursday, August 17, at 3pm at the same venue
