SEA Games: Keisei Nagano ends up with silver in judo -73kg

Keisei Nakano could not make it all the way to the gold.

The 25-year-old judoka got caught twice by Indonesia’s Iksan Apriyadi in the men’s minus-66 kg gold medal match to finish with the silver, Thursday at the Hoai Duc Gymnasium in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Nakano, who won the bronze both in Kuala Lumpur in 2017 and in San Fernando in 2019, was on the back foot after Iksan scored a waza-ari late in the match.

Another waza-ari off a sweep then saw the defending champion Indonesian take a back-to-back.

Megumi Kurayoshi added a bronze in the women’s minus-63 kg after winning past Thailand’s Warunee Buatan with an ura nage in the bronze medal match.
