Saint Benilde suffers another blow

Things could not get any worse for coach Gabby Velasco and the College of Saint Benilde Blazers.

The Blazers, currently sporting a 0-7 slate with a league-high 15.4 point losing margin, will miss the services of Nigerian student-athlete Clement Leutcheu for the next four to six weeks.

The 6’7 big man re-aggravated a recurring knee injury he had suffered during the off-season last Thursday, July 21, in Saint Benilde’s game against the Lyceum Pirates. A minute and 30 ticks into the game, Leutcheu fell awkwardly, putting weight on his already battered left knee, after a rebounding scrum. Leutcheu did not return for the game.

It was confirmed Tuesday afternoon that Leutcheu will miss the next four to six weeks to rest and rehabilitate his left knee. In the six games he played, the Nigerian center posted norms of 7.3 points and 8.0 rebounds (team-high).

This is a huge blow for the Benilde Blazers in their quest to take that elusive win this season.
