IDNS’ Chareeny “Ramellabah” Ramella questioned the 14-day suspension handed to Omega Esports’ Duane “Kelra” Pillas by the MPL Philippines, Monday evening.
“Only 14 days ban without any apologies from the team. Is sexual harassment acceptable policy of his team?” asked Ramella moments after the league announced the punishment through its Facebook page.
“Or is it an okay thing to do in the Philippines.
“As a female player, I don’t feel any reassurance. Sorry guys,” sighed Ramella.
On Sunday night, video clips surfaced online showing Kelra’s inappropriate behavior.
The 16-year-old MLBB rising star was caught saying distasteful comments towards Blacklist International stars Danerie “Wise” Del Rosario and Johnmar “OhMyV33NUS” Villaluna.
Then, Kelra — who also has a girlfriend whom he regularly posts about — made sexist remarks over Ramella.
Ramella made history months ago, becoming the first female player to play in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup where Kelra won the championship and the MVP award.
Aside from the suspension, Kelra was also fined by the league. Strong warning was also handed to the player and his mother club, Omega Esports.
The league was also forced to require competing players to attend a Gender Sensitivity and Sexual Harassment Aware Training Seminar.
The Games and Amusements Board have already been notified of the incident.
