Dean “Raizen” Sumagui stepped up as Omega Esports kept its playoff bid alive after handing ECHO its second-straight loss via a 2-0 sweep in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Eight, Saturday evening.
Omega reclaimed the seventh spot from TNC with 13 points off a 3-7 win-loss standing. On the other hand, ECHO (5-8) remained tied with RSG PH (7-5) at the third spot with 16 points each.
Looking to change things up, Omega Esports coach Jomie “Pakbet” Abalos inserted Raizen into the jungler spot. Meanwhile, Kielvj “Kielvj” Hernadez sat out the series.
The gamble paid dividends for Omega Esports. They were able to steal Game One of a crucial Lord steal from Raizen’s Roger.
Raizen stole the Lord entering the 12-minute mark and capped off the win with a triple kill. The Omega rookie was named the SMART 5G MVP with five kills, a death, and two assists in the 12:41-minute match.
“Feeling ko ano, chemistry ‘yung nawala sa amin kasi nga ‘yun nga ‘yung nangyari kay Kelra, ilang games ‘yun bago [makalaro] ulit si Kelra. Tapos ‘yun, siguro para sa akin nabalik [na] nila ‘yung chemistry,” said Omega Esports reserve Billy “Z4pnu” Alfonso.
Come Game Two, Duane “Kelra” Pillas’ Natan and Renz “Renzio” Cadua’s Phoveus took charge. Omega Esports then bagged a tight 14-14 victory which lasted for 19 minutes and two seconds.
Renzio, who nabbed the SMART 5G MVP plum, finished with three kills, two deaths, and four assists on the win.
Omega Esports look to carry the momentum against Bren Esports tomorrow at 6:00 PM. Meanwhile, ECHO will get the chance to bounce back next Saturday, also against Bren Esports at 4:00 PM.
