Christian “Rafflesia” Fajura took charge as ECHO picked up its first win of the season after sweeping BREN Esports, 2-0, in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Eight, Saturday night.
With the win, ECHO now has three points with a 1-1 standing — tied with Blacklist International at the second spot.
ECHO rookie Rion “Rk3” Kudo’s Beatrix went berserk in the opener, leading his squad to a 15-7 Game One win over the reigning world champions.
Showing off his utility Beatrix in the biggest stage of MLBB, Rk3 did not shy away from the limelight — taking charge late for ECHO to take the 1-0 advantage. He finished with a game-high six kills and three assists against just one death in the win to the 20:06-minute win.
Still, team captain Christian “Rafflesia” Fajura (Chou), who showed his vintage form with well-timed initiations, nabbed the MVP with eight assists laced with three deaths.
“Siguro nung natalo po kami kagabi, parang nag plano po agad kami para masolusyonan yung problema kagabi tapos makabounceback kami agad,” said Mark “Hadess” Lazaro, who finally made his debut for ECHO.
Come Game Two, Rafflesia (Chou) once again made his presence felt.
Entering the 12-minute mark, the two-time MPL champion managed to score a game-winning Way of the Dragon on Charles “FlapTzy” Canon’s Esmeralda — which led to a full five-man wipe and eventually, the win.
Hadess was awarded the MVP award with eight kills, two deaths, and four assists while Rafflesia had 10 assists and five deaths in the 13-12 win which lasted for just 12 minutes and 23 seconds.
ECHO will go up against Omega Esports tomorrow at 8:00 PM while Bren Esports looks to bounce back against RSG PH earlier in the day at 4:00 PM.
