Rafflesia has one goal in MPL Malaysia: Championship

After a three-season absence from the big leagues, Christian “Rafflesia” Fajura wants nothing less than a championship in his first season in the MPL Malaysia.

“Ang ultimate goal ko is makapag-champion ulit. Iba pa rin yung feeling na ikaw yung nag-champion kesa ikaw yung nanunuod lang,” Rafflesia told Tiebreaker Times in an exclusive interview.

Rafflesia won two championships in the MPL Philippines in Seasons 4 and 5 while playing under Sunsparks.

His last stint in the MPL PH was in Season 9 with ECHO, which finished 5th-6th.

He decided to rest in Season 10, but Rafflesia revealed that many people surrounding him still tried to convince him to come back to the professional MLBB scene.

This provided him with the push to try his luck overseas, starting with Pendekar Esports in the MLBB Developmental League Indonesia Season 7, where they finished 5th-8th after getting swept by Dewa United in the quarterfinals.

“Yung naging motivation ko is yung pakikipaglaban sa stage, kasi ibang iba yung feeling na ikaw yung nasa stage kesa nanunuod ka. And since madami ng malakas na player sobrang saya ng pakikipaglaban,” shared Rafflesia on what sparked his eagerness for an MPL comeback.

Coach Kenneth “Flysolo” Coloma played a vital role in his MPL return after difficulties concerning his contract with his previous team proved complicated.

“Naghahanap kasi talaga ako ng tryouts. But since may buyout pa ako sa previous team ko, alam ko na mahihirapan akong lumipat. And then nag-chat si Flysolo sa’kin if willing daw ba akong mag-tryout, then nag-try ako and nakapasok sa Todak,” recalled Rafflesia on how he was arrived in Todak.

Rafflesia’s championship experience will be a key factor as Todak tries to bag the MPL MY championship trophy, which they last won in Season 11.
