PHNOM PENH – Following Blacklist International’s victory over Fire Flux Impunity yesterday in the quarterfinals, a group of Malaysian reporters asked Danerie “Wise” Del Rosario if he could give Todak some tips on how to beat ECHO.
Wise smiled it off before politely declining to answer, saying that he did not want to throw his fellow Filipinos under the bus.
“Hindi ko ibebenta mga kababayan ko,” Wise told the Malaysian reporters.
ECHO went on to win its quarterfinal series against Todak, 2-1, advancing to the 2023 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup semifinals where they will face the winner of the EVOS Legends-ONIC Esports match-up.
During the post-match interview, ECHO jungler Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno expressed appreciation for Wise’s gesture. He also vowed to do the same if they ever encounter a similar question in the future.
“Thank you kay Wise kasi hindi niya kami nilaglag,” said the only two-time ML:BB world champion. “Hindi rin namin sila ilalaglag kapag may nagtanong sa amin [ng ganun].”
KarlTzy opened the series with a 5-0-6 line in the team’s Game 1 win. However, the team suffered a loss in Game 2 where he ended up with 13 assists, a kill, and a death.
The former Bren Esports star tallied 12 assists in Game 3, once again on Akai, before capping off the series with seven assists on Fredrinn in Game 4.
