In a back-and-forth battle between two World Champions who had a lot to prove, it was Pongsiri PK.Saenchai Muaythaigym who ended up victorious.
The 29-year-old Thai proved that the ONE Super Series Muay Thai bantamweight division is just right for him as he took a hard-earned unanimous decision victory over Sean “Clubber” Clancy in the main event of the previously recorded ONE: A New Breed II, which aired to the public on Friday, September 11.
There was no shortage of action between the two men. They stayed in front of each other and threw bombs, leading to a highly entertaining bout in “the art of eight limbs.”
The clincher for Pongsiri came in the second round as he landed a heavy left hook and a short right elbow that sent Clancy crashing to the canvas.
Clancy did get up – and even made things interesting in the third round, pushing forward and landing hard uppercuts on Pongsiri as the Thai seemed to fade late in the final moments.
Pongsiri’s strong performance in the first two rounds plus the knockdown was more than enough to sway the judges.
In other matches, “The Kicking Machine” Superlek Kiatmoo9 kept his perfect record in ONE Super Series after beating Fahdi “The Gladiator” Khaled in a kickboxing match by unanimous decision.
The win was Superlek’s fourth in The Home Of Martial Arts. Next, fans could see him battle either ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Ilias Ennahachi or ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon.
Meanwhile, 16-year-old Supergirl Jaroonsak Muaythai had a debut to remember as she stopped Milagros Lopez by KO in just 60 seconds of the first round of their catchweight Muay Thai match.
