Team Falcons had every reason to celebrate after pulling off a stunning comeback against defending MPL Philippines champions ONIC PH.
But instead of basking in the glory of their victory, the former M5 World Champions had a different priority — consistency.
For Kyle “Pheww” Arcangel and the rest of the squad, the goal wasn’t about reclaiming their old form.
It was about fixing the one flaw that had plagued them in past seasons: inconsistency.
“Para sa akin ano eh, hindi namin iniisip na bumalik na yung form namin, tuloy-tuloy lang kami sa pag-improve, tsaka pinaka-goal namin maging consistent eh, kasi ayun yung parang sakit namin nung mga nakaraang season,” Pheww stated.
“Kahit dominating kami, may pagka-inconsistent kami kaya ayun yung gusto namin i-improve.”
Charles “FlapTzy” Canon echoed the same sentiment, admitting that his team was deeply disappointed after failing to defend their title on the international stage last December.
“Sobrang lugmok, kasi hindi namin made-defend yung title namin,” he said.
Still, FlapTzy believed ONIC deserved their reign over the Land of Dawn, given their dominant run in MPL Philippines Season 14 and the M6 tournament.
“Yung mindset namin nung pinapanood namin yung championship, na time talaga nila. Kumbaga, lahat ng players may sari-sariling time kung kelan sila magcha-champion,” FlapTzy remarked.
“Deserve nila, kasi sobrang dominating nila nung time na yun eh.”
This time, however, it was the former AP.Bren core that took charge, securing a reverse sweep thanks to Marco “Super Marco” Requitano’s dominant performances with Granger.
Despite being recognized as one of the most stable performers in the tournament, Super Marco remained grounded, acknowledging that he still had areas to improve.
“Feeling ko ano naman eh, hindi ako consistent eh, kasi sa ibang games ko, may mga errors din ako eh na pwede iwasan,” he admitted.
