Dynamic Herb Cebu enjoyed a dream start to its 2022 Copa Paulino Alcantara campaign with a 2-0 win over Stallion Laguna, Monday evening at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.
Head coach Mehmet Kakil’s men managed to break the deadlock in the first half thanks to a strike from Chima Uzoka.
Uzoka, who was brought down by Stallion laguna’s Kainoa Bailey, saw his spot-kick saved by his former National University teammate Hayeson Pepito. Still, he was able to turn the ball into the back of the net nonetheless at the 33rd minute.
Dynamic Herb Cebu then sealed the win in second half stoppage time. Former University of the Philippines standout Daniel Gadia penetrated the left flank. He laid the ball to substitute Roberto Corsame Jr., who then scored past Pepito in the 90+1 minute.
