Dynamic Herb Cebu hammered DB Garelli United with an emphatic 6-0 victory, securing their second win of the 2025-26 Philippines Football League season after falling to defending champions Kaya-Iloilo last week, Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
It had been an emotional week for the Cebu side, as the province was struck by a 6.9-magnitude earthquake last Monday.
The win served not only as a morale booster for the squad but also as a source of pride for their fellow Cebuanos.
Former Ateneo Blue Eagle Leo Maquiling grabbed a brace, scoring in the fourth and 31st minutes.
Victor Cabral (56’), Esrom Paulos (66’), JB Borlongan (89’), and Bryan Villanueva (90+3’) combined for four second-half goals to complete the rout.
“We had to make sure that we win this game. We dedicate this game to the Cebuanos and to make sure that we’re one big family,” said Maquiling, who was named Man of the Match for Cebu.
In Saturday’s other fixture, Aguilas-UMak claimed a narrow 2-1 win over Maharlika, recording back-to-back victories in the Philippines Football League at Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
Aguilas opened the scoring in the 70th minute through Jhomaray Sapal, but Park Eunsoo equalized for Maharlika three minutes after the restart.
With both teams vying for the winner, an unfortunate own goal by Park handed Aguilas the victory, moving them provisionally up to sixth place.
League action continues Sunday with Stallion Laguna facing Valenzuela PB-Mendiola at 3:00 p.m., followed by Manila Digger versus Tuloy at 5:45 p.m. and One Taguig against Philippine Army at 8:30 p.m.
