2018 is not yet over, but ONE Championship is already plotting its 2019 campaign.
Thursday afternoon, ONE, the biggest martial arts promotion in Asian history, announced its slate for 2019 in a press conference held at Tokyo, Japan – the martial arts mecca of Asia.
“It is our absolute pleasure to announce today that we will be officially holding our first-ever live event in Tokyo next March,” Chairman and CEO of ONE Championship Chatri Sityodtong said.
Also in attendance were ONE Championship athletes, including ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela Lee; ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano Fernandes; ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon Vera; the legendary Renzo Gracie; his brother, 5th degree BJJ Black Belt Ralph Gracie; acclaimed Submission Grappling world champion Garry Tonon; Kickboxing superstar Giorgio Petrosyan; Muay Thai legend Nong-O Gaiyanghadao; former ONE World Title challenger Mei Yamaguchi; former ONE World Title challenger Ken Hasegawa; ONE Strawweight World Champion Yoshitaka Naito; and former ONE Lightweight World Champion Shinya Aoki.
“The ONE Championship superstars here today are some of the greatest talents in the world, bar none. They came out here to show their support for ONE Championship, and are living proof of the greatness of martial arts and the impact it has on our lives,” added Sityodtong. “Together, we can inspire the world to walk in the true values of martial arts – integrity, humility, honor, respect, courage, discipline, and compassion. We look forward to seeing you all once again, right here in March 2019.”
For the Philippines, ONE will hold four shows just like this year. The first will be on January 25, followed by their summer show on April 5. The third card will be on August 2, before ONE closes out the year on December 13.
ONE will also make its debut in Japan on March 31, followed by a second card on October 11. Both events will be held in Tokyo.
The fight league is also set to debut in Vietnam and South Korea on September 6 and December 20 respectively.
“I am thrilled to announce the first 24 of 30 events of our busy 2019 schedule at ONE Championship. In addition to the first 24 live events planned for all sports fans in Asia, there will be at least 6 ONE Warrior Series events that will continue to showcase the absolute best in martial arts, delivered by our martial arts superheroes,” disclosed Sityodtong.
“Of course, all of our live events will be available on the ONE Super App. 2018 isn’t over yet and we still have a lot of great stuff planned but 2019 is already shaping up to be an amazing year for us.”
