Northport secures Evan Nelle with two-year contract

Northport has secured its point guard of the future.

Evan Nelle, the 14th overall pick in the PBA Draft, signed a two-year deal with the Batang Pier on Friday.

Present during the signing were his agent Charlie Dy of Virtual Playground, head coach Bonnie Tan, and team managers Pido Jarencio and Waiyip Chong.

Nelle, a UAAP Season 86 Mythical Team member, was one of the surprises of the draft last Sunday after dropping to the second round.

The 5-foot-11 guard will now have to prove his doubters wrong at Northport.

Nelle is expected to be the secondary floor general of the Batang Pier, with recently-acquired Jio Jalalon taking the lead role.

Nelle will also get to play alongside sophomore Fran Yu, with whom he had numerous battles in the NCAA during his time at San Beda University.

Yu’s head coach during that time? None other than his and Nelle’s head coach right now at Northport, Bonnie Tan.

Other draftees of Northport are Dave Ildefonso, Agem Miranda, John Uduba, Germy Mahinay, and Robbi Darang.
