Northport relieved as Jamel Artis makes PBA height limit

It’s all systems go for new-look Northport when it returns in the 2021-22 PBA Governors’ Cup on Saturday against Rain or Shine.

American import Jamel Artis made the 6-foot-6 limit for reinforcements in the tournament, Tuesday afternoon at the league’s office in Pasig.

Artis, 29, measured at 6-foot and 5 1/2 inches, according to Batang Pier team manager Bonnie Tan, who breathed a sigh of relief afterward.

The former Orlando Magic player replaced Cameron Forte, who only played two games for Northport.

Besides playing for Orlando in 2017, Artis also suited up for G League team Lakeland, French team Chorale Roanne, and Greek club Ionikos Nikaias.

High will be the expectations for Artis as Northport is currently in a 0-4 hole in the standings.

Northport recently got Roi Sumang, Alvin Abundo, and Cris Dumapig while losing Greg Slaughter, Robert Bolick, and Nico Elorde to free agency.
