The National Capital Region has been put under alert level three once more after another surge in COVID-19 cases — including a local transmission of the omicron variant.
The new alert level will be implemented from January 3 and will last until the 15th as announced by Inter-Agency Task Force head Karlo Nograles.
With it, no contact sports are allowed to be played in the region while non-contact sports are allowed but with 30-percent indoor capacity for fully-vaccinated individuals.
Questions now linger for the only active professional sports league in the country right now, the Philippine Basketball Association.
Currently in the midst of the Governors’ Cup, the league will be holding its games from that span at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
Fans have been allowed to watch the games as well.
Now, will the league stop plsy until January 15 or still resume under a closed-circuit, closed-door setup?
Tiebreaker Times has reached out to league commissioner Willie Marcial but has yet to get a response as of publishing.
