MPL PH: ONIC stays hot, hands AP.Bren’s first loss

ONIC Philippines maintained their fiery form and dealt erstwhile undefeated AP.Bren their first loss with a 2-0 sweep in Week 4 of the MPL Philippines Season 13 on Saturday at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City.

The Sonic momentarily tied their victims at the top of the standings with identical 6-1 records (18 points). ECHO (5-1) currently holds 16 points and will have a chance to leapfrog the two as they battle MINANA Evos later in the day.

“I don’t wanna assume pero nagmukha kasing nag-overthink yung Bren eh over sa mga nakaraang linggo namin eh,” explained ONIC head coach Tony “Ynot” Senedrin on what spelled their victory over AP.Bren.

“And I think perhaps yun yung difference. Mindset. Kami kasi we just went in na ang mindset lang namin is gawin kung san kami pinakamalakas. So execute lang yun. Nakita na lang sa results,” the former Omega head coach added.

Jomari “Escalera” Santos (Franco) continued his fine play as his Iron Hooks proved pivotal in a dominant Game 1 encounter.

Game 2 boiled down to a 14th-minute lord fight where Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez (Vexana) completed a lord steal that ONIC followed with a 3-0 wipe.

Duane “Kelra” Pillas (Karrie) then scored a double kill in the ensuing play as ONIC went for the kill and completed the sweep.

ONIC will quickly head back to the drawing board as they prepare for a grudge match against ECHO, the team that dealt them their only loss this season, on Sunday, April 13th.
