Nexplay Evos made a successful debut in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 11 after sweeping TNC Pro Team, 2-0, on Friday.
“Happy kami kasi nung nakamit namin yung first series win namin with TNC, sobrang grateful ako sa mga bata, also sa management namin with Boss Ban, also sa team manager namin at sa assistant coach ko,” shared head coach Joshua Alfaro after nabbing his first win in the pro ranks.
“Hindi lang kasi kami, ako. A lot of the management behind of this team, talagang nagtulong-tulong to gain the respect of those followers and supporters sa NXPE na ipakita sa kanilang lahat na this is a era of NXPE. And hopefully makuha namin ang tiwala ng bawat supporter namin right now,” he continued.
Alfaro has been the coach of Minana Esports since their campaign in the amateur scene where they managed to secure 11 titles before the team was absorbed by NXPE during the off-season.
With only Jeniel “YellyHaze DR” Bata-anon left in the previous NXPE roster, many thought the team would have an uphill battle this season owing to an amateur-laden roster.
But come opening day, NXPE proved they belong with convincing wins over the MPL PH Season 9 third-placer.
In Game 1, Nexplay took control of the match after converting a 2-0 pickoff into a 9th-minute lord courtesy of superb counter-initiation during a midlane ambush. They did not concede any death from there not until the final base turret push to pull ahead, 1-0.
TNC unveiled an interesting Zilong pick in the goldlane for Game 2 that provided a dangerous late-game threat.
Despite leading by as much as 29-16 on the kill tally, the Minana-backed squad still needed a successful assassination of Robee Bryan “Ninjakilla” Pormocille (Zilong) in the 28th minute.
That finally shut down TNC’s comeback attempt and scored the sweep.
