MPL PH: Echo escapes Omega for, extends win streak to 6

Echo survived a tight dogfight against Smart Omega, 2-1, to score their sixth straight win, in Week 4 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 11 on Friday.

They remain the only undefeated team with a perfect 6-0 card (16pts) to continue to hold on to the top spot in the standings. Omega on the other hand fell to 1-5 (5 pts) to remain near the bottom of the standings.

Echo head Coach Archie “Tictac” Reyes lauded the efforts of the Omega squad who was only the second team to force a Game 3 against them this season.

“Malakas na rin talaga sila (Omega) eh. Umabot nga tayo ng Game 3 tapos nakahabol lang kami. Tingin ko vision-making lang sa mga late game ang kulang (nila). Pero draft, eveything, solid,” he said.

Game 1 boiled down to a 24th-minute base turret defense where Karl Gabriel “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno fended off three Omega invaders and successfully picked off Duane “kelra” Pillas (Harith) with a timely Heavy Spin release.

Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera (Kadita) then found Dale “Stowm” Vidor (Pharsa) out of position in the 25th-minute lord dance that led to a pick-off and the evolved lord to take the opener, 1-0.

But MLBB Southeast Asian Cup 2021 MVP Kelra went on a rampage in Game 2, taking a 3-0-0 KDA by the 3rd minute to help Omega establish a commanding 5-0 lead on the kill tally.

Not even a successful base turret defense in the 14th minute could help Echo recover as Omega continued to pressure the sidelanes en route to securing the lords which culminated in Stowm’s (Valentina) triple kill in the dying moments to equalize, 1-1.

Kelra finished with a monster 10-2-2 KDA.

In Game 3, Echo shrugged off a pick-off on Yawi in the 12th minute to score a 5-1 wipeout in the ensuing team fight to finally put away Omega.
