ONIC Philippines clinched their fifth consecutive victory by sweeping TNC Pro Team 2-0 in Week 3 of the MPL Philippines Season 13 on Sunday at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City.
The Sonics now boast 15 points, temporarily claiming the second spot over ECHO (13 points), who were still playing at press time.
“To be honest, si Raizen dati kong player so I’m proud of him dun sa Game 2. Naexecute nila yung dapat nilang iexecute. Kumbaga, nakapagreset sila. I still think very highly of TNC lalo na ngayong season kahit nagrebuild sila. It’s just that hinahanap lang talaga nila yung groove nila,” said ONIC head coach Tony “Ynot” Senedrin on TNC.
In Game 1, ONIC seized a decisive lead after Duane “Kelra” Pillas’ (Karrie) triple kill in the 8th minute ignited a 4-1 exchange, followed by securing the lord objective.
They maintained their advantage and cruised to victory in just 13 minutes, with a dominating kill score of 18-5.
Game 2 came down to a 25th-minute lord dance where Jem “Jem” Lanojan (Barats) caught Jaylord “Hatred” Gonzales (Aurora) with a Detona’s Welcome, securing a pick off.
This provided game MVP King “K1NGKONG” Perez (Nolan) enough space on the map to execute a brilliant split push through the midlane in the subsequent sequence, clinching the series in one fell swoop.
ONIC will face AP.Bren on April 13 before a rematch with ECHO, the team that handed them their only loss so far, on April 14.
