MDL PH: Takanega helps GameLab sustain immaculate run


GameLab continued with its dominant run after sweeping Nexplay Evos Tiger Cubs, 2-0, to take their fourth win in as many matches in Week 2 of the Mobile Legends Development League (MDL) Philippines Season 1 on Tuesday.

Vincent “Takanega” Monilla rampaged with 6-0-6 and 5-0-7 KDAs on the unorthodox jungle picks of Hanzo and Alice, respectively, to take a pair of match MVPs.

His stellar performance helped Game Lab score their fourth consecutive sweep. They now sit on top of the standings with 12 points with a 4-0 win-loss record.

Smart Omega Neos stayed within striking distance with the league leaders after surviving Echo proud, 2-1, for their third win in as many matches.

They now have seven points (3-0) to stay at solo second.

Goldlaner Christian “West” Mangabay dominated the decider by finishing with a perfect 7-0-7 KDA with the Harith pick. He also took the MVP honors in the opener after finishing with an 8-2-7 KDA on the same pick.

Meanwhile, Onic Arsenals recovered from their Week 1 hiccup by completing a reverse sweep of Blacklist Academy.

Marc Wayne “Waing” Ortiz stole the show as delivered a solid performance with the Fredrinn pick, compiling seven kills and 19 assists in the final two games without conceding any death to help Onic improve to 2-1 (5pts).

In the final series of the day, TNC finally barged into the win column after emerging on top of a 2-1 thriller over winless ZOL Esports.

They had to labor through a tight Game 3 contest using a successful base turret defense in the 27th minute to score a massive comeback win with three inhibitors down.

Carl Michael “Crown” Pilapil (Gloo) scored a double during the clutch defense that turned a disadvantageous 3 vs 4 defense into a 4-2 punishment and executed a one-way push in the middle lane.
