The MLBB Development League (MDL) Philippines has imposed a fine on Blacklist Academy due to issues surrounding its MDL team.
MDL PH conducted a comprehensive investigation into the claims made by team manager Eviann Balquin and found Blacklist Academy LTX guilty of mismanagement, resulting in poor working conditions for their players.
The investigation results also revealed that the players were not provided with an adequate food budget during certain days at the boot camp, forcing them to use their own salaries to purchase food. Additionally, their salaries were not released in a timely manner, as stipulated in their contracts.
Following the viral spread of Balquin’s story in the public domain, Blacklist Academy, the officially registered team for MDL Philippines Season 2, has announced the termination of its partnership with the Malaysian Esports Organization Team Lunatix.
The statement further declares, “Moving forward, the league will conduct a workshop to empower players in dealing with similar situations and will continue to facilitate safe and open dialogue should any issues arise. We will also collaborate with all teams to establish requirements ensuring that players are provided with a conducive work environment.”
As of the time of this writing, Blacklist has not released a statement regarding the fine.
