Mac lifts SMART Omega to three-way tie in DPC Lower Div


SMART Omega Esports forged a three-way tie for the pole position after a 2-1 victory over Yangon Galacticos in the Dota Pro Circuit 2021: S1-Southeast Asia Lower Division, Thursday evening.

Omega Esports, along with fellow Filipino squad Cignal Ultra and Army Geniuses, are now at the top spot with identical 2-0 win-loss slates.

Mc Nicholson “Mac” Villanueva was unstoppable in Game One with his Ember Spirit, leading the 40-18 stomp with a monster 16-0-19 kill-death-assist tally. He also collected a total of 21,932 net worth to become the second richest player in the match.

Omega carry Justin “Tino” Grimaldo pumped in nine kills and 15 assists against two deaths with a game-high 25,304 net worth in the 35:44-minute opening match.

The Filipinos, however, fell to the Htut Aung “HAW” Wai-led Yangon Galacticos in Game Two. He answered with a dominant Queen of Pain performance that produced 18 kills and 19 assists against two deaths.

Yangon Galacticos carry Min Khant “Young PH” Mg supplied the damage with his Phantom Assassin as he ended up with 10 kills, five deaths, and 13 assists to help the Burmese side even the series at 1-1.

Mac and Tino were able to get the kills in Game Two but struggled to survive in crucial clashes. Mac had 11 kills and 12 assists against eight while Tino suffered nine deaths along with 10 kills and nine assists.

Game Three was a nip-and-tuck affair from both sides until Tino (Troill Warlord) initiated a clash in the middle lane that took down Haw (Ember Spirit) and Zawrain “ZawRain” Sai Aung (Pangolier), respectively. Young PH, though, sneaked into Omega’s backline and eliminated Jun “Bok” Kanehara (Shadow Demon) who bought himself back immediately.

Marvin “Boomy” Rushton (Void Spirit) was able to get a hold of Thiha Kyaw “SkillLay” Swar’s Earth Spirit to set up the kill for Mac (Monkey King). Omega ended the match at exactly 42 minutes and 31 seconds.

Mac led the way in Game Three with 13 kills, three deaths, and 10 assists while Tino added eight kills, four deaths, and 12 assists. Cml’s Ancient Apparition scored a game-high 22 assists along with two kills and eight deaths.

HAW had a decent Ember Spirit outing with 10 kills, five deaths, and 15 assists but that wasn’t enough as the Myanmar side suffered their second straight loss and is now at the last spot with a 2-0 card.

Omega Esports will face Hoyo on February 1, Monday to try and extend their winning streak to three games.
