Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang recalled how his mother shaped him into the man he is today.
Adiwang has been making up for lost time by staying with his mother, Leticia, during the lockdown.
With Mother’s Day being celebrated last Sunday, Adiwang paid tribute to the lady who raised him.
“She had a big impact on me. I’ve learned and picked up a lot from her, from the ups and downs, the positives and the negatives… It shaped me into who I am today,” Adiwang said.
“Because of that, when the time comes that I have my own family, I now know how to build a beautiful and happy family.”
Sunday was certainly special, but “Thunder Kid” did not do anything grand, given that the situation in the city is not very ideal. Still, he made sure to remind her mother how much he loves her.
“I made sure to thank her for everything and reminded her how proud and happy we are that she is our mother,” Adiwang said.
“We reminded her that she has a family that loves her so much, and for me, everyday should be Mother’s Day.”
After spending years abroad to make ends meet, Adiwang is happy that he does not need to be far away from his loved ones to earn a living anymore.
Things may be hard now because of the pandemic, but the 27-year-old nonetheless sees a silver lining in all the hardships the world is going through.
“The biggest lesson in this crisis is the importance of the small things, and the things that we take for granted,” Adiwang said.
“Especially when it comes to family, because they are the ones who will never leave — that’s why we should put more importance to them.”
